Warning spyware detected on your computer – How to identify real warnings from fake warnings
One of the biggest problems with getting the “warning spyware detected on your computer” message is figuring out the fake threats from the real threats. First off, if you are getting any kind of pop up warning then you have some kind of spyware on your computer. The fake threats, however, will scare you into thinking things are much worse so that you will immediately download their software. This is how you can discern between the two.
Real threat – The message should read “warning spyware detected on your computer” and then followed with something along the lines of “Install antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer”. The most important thing is there should be NO ADVERTISEMENTS for which antivirus or antispyware program to install.
Fake threat - The message will say “warning spyware detected on your computer” and then followed by “install XXX program to clean up your computer. This is what is known as a “false positive” warning. The spyware is simply using scare tactics to get you to install their program. When the program is installed it will infect your computer further while putting your financial and identification information at risk.
Whatever the message is I recommend treating all of them as if they were fake threats. I would estimate over 90% of warning spyware detected messages are in fact false positives sent by rogue anti spyware programs.
In order to remove this message I would recommend scanning your computer with a top rated spyware removal tool.
